Shaping Alberta’s Future
Enterprise Canada | Print Design | Newspaper Multi-Page Advertisement
This is a project was designed when I was working as the Multimedia Designer at ‘Enterprise Canada’. It is demonstrates a practical, objective approach to designing print assets for large-scale distribution under real-world constraints.
Project Context
As a designer, there are times when projects arise that fall outside of personal beliefs or interests. In these situations, professionalism matters more than opinion. This project required a politically impartial approach, setting aside personal bias to focus on clarity, accuracy, and effective communication. The goal was not advocacy, but execution: delivering well-structured, accessible design that met the brief and performed in a real-world context.
Approaching the work this way ensured the final materials were judged on quality, readability, and consistency, rather than personal alignment with the subject matter.
Client & Campaign Overview
The project was created for Shaping Alberta’s Future, as part of the political campaign for Jason Kenney. The campaign required province-wide printed materials that could clearly communicate key messages while maintaining a cohesive visual identity across multiple formats.
Because the materials would be distributed broadly, the design needed to be adaptable, compliant with print standards, and suitable for a diverse readership across Alberta.
Design & Production Process
All content layout and visual design were created in Adobe InDesign, with a strong focus on typographic hierarchy, grid systems, and print accuracy. The designs supported multiple newspaper insert sizes, requiring careful attention to margins, bleed, and scaling while preserving legibility and visual balance.
The work prioritized clear information hierarchy, consistent branding across formats, print-safe colour and typography, and efficient file preparation for large-scale distribution. Each version was reviewed to ensure reliable reproduction across different print vendors.
Distribution & Outcome
Final designs were delivered to newspaper publishers across the province, including the Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Sun, Lethbridge Herald, and the Fort Saskatchewan Record. The project demonstrates an ability to work objectively on sensitive or high-stakes subject matter, design within real-world constraints for mass distribution, and deliver consistent, production-ready print assets at scale.
Overall, the case study highlights professionalism, adaptability, and strong execution when working with diverse clients and complex content.
